Dinner at Pizzeria 22 in West Seattle for authentic Neapolitan Pizza
The Al Pepperoni Pizza from Pizzeria 22. An incredibly tasty pie. One of the best I've had!
If you follow me and read my blog you'd probably think I've eaten at every pizza place in Seattle. Oh, but I haven't yet! One spot I recently tried was in West Seattle at Pizzeria 22. This pizza spot was so good in so many ways, that I can't believe I hadn't dined there sooner.
At Pizzeria 22, they serve authentic Neapolitan pie like you'd find in Italy. They have a giant pizza oven they brought over from Italy, and it's so fun watching them make your pizza in it. The oven is from Naples and weighs 2,500 pounds. We were seated near the bar area and the pizza oven, affording our family a front row seat to watch the magic happen. They have a full bar and have signature Italian cocktails. I had a type of Aperol Spritz that was fruity and floral. An Aperol Spritz has Prosecco, club soda, and Aperol (bitters). My husband had a cocktail with Vodka and grapefruit juice. It was nicely chilled and tasted really refreshing.
They have a kid's menu with a few options. My sons each ordered a cheese pizza. My husband got a Roasted Chicken and Garlic pizza and I had a Pepperoni one. The Neapolitan pizzas on the main menu are all 12 inches big and serves one. However, we found the pizzas to be quite large for one person. I was able to take a lot of mine home for the next day. I love leftover pizza!
This was one of the best pizzas ever. I really love and appreciate the freshness of this type of pizza. Neapolitan style is really thin and overall, pretty light pizza. They don't go crazy on the cheese, so it doesn't weigh you down as much. The pepperoni pieces on mine were perfect little cups of joy. The Italian tomato sauce had just the right amount of spice. The pizza tasted just as delicious the next day. To reheat my leftover pizza, I put it on a pan in my oven and broil it for four or five minutes. It always tastes so good!
Everyone else really liked their pizza. My sons polished off their kid sized ones and my husband couldn't stay away from his leftover pizza and ended up finishing it that night! The girls serving us were really friendly and gave off those chill West Seattle vibes. The restaurant was really dim and cozy, making for challenging lighting for my photos, but giving us great aesthetics while we dined.
Their dessert menu looked intriguing, with Nutella Calzones, S'mores, and Tiramisu, which we'll have to try next time. This would be such a fun spot to bring a group for a special occasion! Definitely check Pizzeria 22 out if you like this style of pizza!
