A Food Adventure in Kirkland

A Lavender White Chocolate Milk Tea with boba from Bobae in Kirkland.

One Friday afternoon, after my sons got out of school, our family drove to Kirkland. We had a food adventure and we started with boba tea and macarons. Then we had dinner at a burger spot in Totem Lake, and afterwards, we grabbed a cupcake to share for dessert. By then, we were full, so we saved the cupcake for the next day.

Bobae Coffee and Tea

We started at Bobae Coffee and Tea. They're located in downtown Kirkland and they opened pretty recently. Their original store is in Woodinville, so I was happy they opened another location a little closer to Seattle. Their Kirkland spot is really small. There's no seating or restrooms. Just a counter where you order your drinks and macarons. They have a pretty wide menu with lots of drink options. I chose a Lavender White Chocolate Milk Tea with boba. I also had a Guava Macaron. My sons had the Birthday Cake Macarons. My drink tasted delightful and just like spring. I love the flavor of lavender in my drinks and the chocolate flavor was nice and subtle and didn't overpower the lavender. The boba was perfect. Nice, soft and chewy.

Stacks 571 Burger and Whiskey Bar

Then we drove to The Village at Totem Lake. I'd been one time before to check out 203 Degrees Fahrenheit and loved the area. We wanted to have dinner at Stacks 571 Burger and Whiskey Bar. They have outdoor and indoor seating. We chose indoor because we'd never eaten there before. I started with a Whiskey Sour and my husband had a Sangria. My drink was really neat because the egg white layer on top had the name of the restaurant, Stack 571, on it. The cocktail was really strong and made just right. I also tried one of their fun Boozy Milkshakes. I had the Washington Triple Berry with Heritage Vodka. It was so creamy and basically, boozy tasting. There was small chunks of berry in it and it was a really rich and decadent thing to drink. I wish I could have finished it, but I couldn't find the room to.

My husband and I shared the Miso Shishitos and the four of us shared the Gorgonzola Waffle Fries. The peppers had a ginger-miso dressing and were just the right amount of heat. The fries were really good and full of cheese. He also had the Burger Dip with Fries. My sons had the Grilled Cheese and a Cheeseburger. Each kids' menu item comes with an ice cream sundae, so one of my sons had one. At The Village at Totem Lake, they have a neat play area for the kids. There's also lots of seating and even firepits for hanging out. Our sons played there for a while and had a blast.

The Sweetside

By then we were all really full, but I still wanted to check out The Sweetside. They're pretty new to Totem Lake and I'd heard good things about them. Their interior is so pretty and they have a huge selection of desserts. The Sweetside does custom ordered cakes, but they also have items to buy and enjoy at one of the tables. I just bought one cupcake to take home. I chose a Chocolate Sailer's Pride Cupcake. The next day, my sons and I split it. We didn't like the frosting for some reason. Usually that's my fav part. The chocolate cake part was soft and flavorful, however.

That concludes our food adventure in Kirkland! Thanks for reading and I hope this gives you some inspo for some spring outings and places to eat!
