Visiting Sweet Retreat Creamery in Columbia Falls, MT
Last August a new ice cream shop opened in my hometown of Columbia Falls. So, of course, I had to go check it out on my last trip back. Sweet Retreat Creamery is a really cute store selling homemade ice cream. Their ice cream base is from the local Kalispell Kreamery, which we visited in 2020. You can see the post right here. Then Sweet Retreat adds its own mix-ins.
They have some fun and unique flavors and I found it hard to choose! They have kids' scoops and regular scoops, along with your choice of a cup or waffle cone. It was hard to choose between a kids' scoop of the Huckleberry Cheesecake or Cookie Monster, but I chose Cookie Monster.
For that flavor, they use a Cotton Candy base with Spirulina, for the bright blue color. Spirulina is a blue-green algae that's full of vitamins. So, my ice cream was kind of healthy, I guess? There was also Oreo and cookie dough chunks, yum! My sister-in law came along, and she treated me. She's so sweet! My niece had a kids' scoop of the Mango Sorbet. She loved it and didn't want to share with her mom!
We chatted with the owner for a while, and he was really friendly. He said a lot of the locals come in regularly and are big fans of the ice cream. The inside of the store is really neat looking, with an artsy mountain design on the wall. If you're in the area, go check this place out!
