Celebrating 40 Years!
My birthday cake was a Devil's Food Cheesecake from Junior's Cheesecake!
Last week I turned 40! I decided to spread the celebrating over a few days. I put all of my photos in one post because I felt like three or four birthday blogs would be too much. We went out a lot last week and took tons of photos. It felt like a big deal turning 40 and I wanted to do it in style. I'm always grateful to be celebrating another birthday. Plus, it's a great excuse to eat cake!
My hubby surprised me some some pretty pink flowers!
The Harvest Vine
About 5 days before my birthday we had a reservation at the Harvest Vine. I decided to start celebrating then and had them bring me a slice of Chocolate Tart with caramel sauce. This tart is one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Oh my! And I loved the four candles for 40.
The Olympic Bar
On my actual birthday while my sons were in school, my husband and I had lunch at the new Olympic Bar inside the Fairmont Olympic downtown. The bar is beautiful and spacious. And I loved the art piece above the bar. I tried an Espresso Martini for the first time and fell in love. I couldn't believe how tasty and creamy it was. Perfect for a lunchtime drink. We also shared the Cheeseburger and onion rings. Everything tasted perfect!
Junior's Cheesecake
I ordered a cheesecake from Junior's Cheesecake for my BD cake. I chose a really chocolaty one with brownie, plain cheesecake, and chocolate frosting. It was super rich and I ended up freezing half of it. This cake got better the longer it set up in my fridge. So good and decadent. It was too rich for my husband and my son, so my other son and I got a lot of it! I ordered it about a month in advance off of Goldbelly.com. It arrived on the day it was supposed to and was packed really well. I also bought a cake topper from Amazon. Love how sparkly it is and how I can keep it as a keepsake.
Dave and Buster's Bellevue
My family and I went to Dave and Buster's in Bellevue to play in the arcade and eat in the restaurant. They have a lot of new games and my sons had a lot of fun. They updated their menu with more high quality and relevant items. I had a Froze which was really refreshing and fruity. I also had the Burrata salad which tasted so fresh and satisfying. We shared a giant pretzel which was so huge we had to take it home and eat on it all weekend. My sons had Chicken Tenders and my husband had the Kale Salad. For arcade food, they do a good job with the menu.
The Melting Pot Bellevue
And finally, for a nice dinner out we dined at the Melting Pot in Bellevue. They're a fondue restaurant that started in Florida in 1975. If you love melted cheese like I do, you'd love fondue. You can choose from five different cheese fondues. Then the server makes it tableside. It comes with bread and veggies for dipping. We enjoyed the Classic Alpine with Gruyere, Raclette, Fontina, White Wine, Garlic, and Nutmeg. They also have some neat signature cocktails. I chose a fun one, a Ying and Yang cocktail with vanilla Vodka and rum. The drink looked really neat and perfect for a birthday dinner. It tasted so creamy just like a dessert.
For our entrée, we shared the steak option with three kinds of steak. It arrived ready for us to cook with six sauces and raw veggies. We chose to cook our food in a Bouillon style. It was a vegetable broth on a stovetop that stayed nice and hot to cook the meat. We shared one portion and it was still a lot of food. They knew it was my birthday so I was presented with a birthday plate with a chocolate covered strawberry and a small piece of pound cake with a candle. This was a such a delicious dinner and this was the perfect spot for a special occasion. We left full and satisfied.
Thanks for reading along! I hope you have a snack, since this post probably made you hungry! So far 40 is great!
