Exploring Kalispell's Main St and Dinner at The Montana Club

Growing up in MT, I always liked hanging out in Kalispell. It's about a thirty minute drive from Columbia Falls, my hometown. Kalispell was the closest town with a mall, so of course, I loved it. I still enjoy strolling around and discovering new stores there. On my most recent trip with my sons, we walked around in the hot sun and did some exploring.

Our first stop was an old favorite, Norm's Soda Fountain. They were very busy, with every table filled with locals and tourists. At Norm's they sell burgers, fries, and shakes. And you can even sit at the counter and enjoy an old school Egg Cream or sundae. But my sons and I like Norm's Soda Fountain for the large display of candy in the front and the back of the store.

Since it was so busy, we browsed in the front and quickly got our goods. They chose a small sucker while I picked a cup of fudge. For $6, they sell sampler cups with small pieces of fudge. It looked cool, but I later discovered some of the flavors don't go to well together. The flavors were huckleberry, mint, rootbeer, peanut butter, cotton candy, and rocky road. Delicious on their own, but not so tasty all melted together.

Then we strolled up Main St. a little more. We checked out the toy store, Imagination Station, where I purchased a toy for both boys. Next, we walked about two blocks to Kalispell Center Mall to escape the heat. Then we met my parents for dinner at The Montana Club. It's a MT restaurant chain I'd been wanting to try for a while. The menu is huge with options for everyone. And the cocktail menu was calling out to me with some yummy sounding huckleberry drinks.

I chose a Huckletini from their Martini menu. It had Huckleberry Wild Roots Vodka, Chambord, Island Oasis Raspberry, and simple syrup topped with Champagne and fresh huckleberries. It also had a pink sugared rim. Who could pass up a cocktail like that? It tasted so good and was full of that tart huckleberry and raspberry flavor I love. The huckleberries on top were also a nice touch.

My parents ordered some Parmesan Shrimp Flatbread and I chose the Cheese Curds with bacon and caramel sauce. My sons each had Chicken Strips and Fries from the kid's menu. My cheese curds were as good as they sound with that nice sweet and savory thing going on. It was a pretty heavy dish, so I only finished half. It was so good the next day for lunch. I really liked The Montana Club's vibe with the black and white MT photos and the rustic fireplace. I would definitely recommend dining here if you're in the area. They also have locations in Butte, Billings, Great Falls, and Missoula.
