Trying Huckleberry Items at Huckleberry Square
I love to eat huckleberries. Every time I have them, they taste like home. "Home" being Montana, where I grew up. So when I see huckleberry menu items I always order them. Huckleberry Square is located in Burien, WA and they've been opened since 1979. I heard about this place years ago, but never checked it out.
Then two weeks ago, I visited Treat Cookies in downtown Burien, and we happened to drive by Huckleberry Square. A quick look at their menu online and I knew we'd have to eat there. They have a large menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner items. They open every day at 6 am. The locals dine there for the filling breakfast items. I was impressed by the number of huckleberry items and I couldn't wait to try some.
I started with one of the Huckleberry Streusel Cakes. It was warm, soft, and crumbly, and it was full of yummy huckleberries! My son had a blueberry muffin and sausage links, while my other son had the Silver Dollar Pancakes from the kid's menu. We also shared some crispy bacon that was so good. I don't eat bacon often, but when I do, I remember how awesome is tastes.
I also had a Belgian Waffle with hand-picked Montana wild mountain huckleberry sauce. I loved their huckleberry sauce and could have swam in the stuff. And with some whipped cream? Delicious! My husband loves his savory food, so he chose the Chicken Fried Steak. He paired it with a Bloody Mary. I tried a sip and it was really spicy. We couldn't resist the dessert menu, so we shared some Huckleberry Cobbler with ice cream. It was hot and fresh, and really hit the spot!
After eating, I was stuffed to the brim with huckleberries. A long walk was just the ticket. I had such a tasty lunch trying three different huckleberry items at Huckleberry Square. I'd definitely recommend this spot in Burien. We dined inside, but they also have outdoor seating in adorable tents with individual picnic tables. So neat and fun!
My son's Blueberry Muffin. He loves a good muffin!
