How to make Dalgona Coffee

While everyone is staying at home during the Covid-19 outbreak, we're all spending a little more time in our kitchen. The latest internet sensation is making Dalgona Coffee. This coffee drink is so fun to make and drink, you won't miss hanging out in your favorite coffee shop. The popular drink originated from South Korea and it seems like everyone is making it. It just begs to be photographed because of how fluffy the whipped coffee on top looks.

You make it with just three ingredients you probably have in your pantry. Take 2 tablespoons of instant coffee, 2 tablespoons white sugar, and 2 tablespoons of hot water. Use a large bowl and stir together with either a whisk or a hand mixer. I recommend using a hand mixer if you have one. It took me about ten minutes. Be patient, as it does take a while for your mixture to thicken into soft peaks.

This was my second time making Dalgona Coffee. My first time was a fail. I didn't use a big enough bowl, I used a spoon to mix it, and my instant coffee was the wrong type. I used a three in one instant coffee, and that changed the consistency too much. This time I used Folgers Instant Coffee. Then when your coffee mixture is thick and fluffy, grab a glass and fill with a few ice cubes. I used a couple of cups of Almond Milk, but you can use whatever type of milk you want. Then I used a spoon and poured my coffee mixture on top. Ta da! Photo ready coffee made at home.

How did it taste though? The Folgers coffee taste was strong, so I added some caramel sauce to sweeten it up. I then used a spoon and mixed everything together. The result was a thick, creamy, and sweet iced coffee. It reminded me of a Frappuccino, so I'd say that's a win. If you have some time on your hands and love coffee, you can try doing the #Dalgonacoffeechallenge, too!
