The Pacific Northwest Brew Cup in Astoria

At the end of our trip to Northern Oregon we attended The Pacific Northwest Brew Cup in Astoria. This event is held every year during the last weekend in September at the waterfront at the Columbia River Maritime Museum. Its a family friendly event with beer tastings, food, live music, and games for kids. If you want to taste some beer the cost is twelve bucks for the souvenir glass (pictured above) and the tokens are one dollar. Each tasting cost one to three tokens I believe. They've been doing this event since 2002.

My husband was the one doing the beer tastings and I did a little ice cream tasting from the Frite and Scoop booth. They're a local ice cream place that also serves fries. I wanted to visit their shop in Astoria but they were closed on the day we visited. But luckily for me, they were at the Brew Cup and I got to try the ice cream after all. The owner was really nice and was happily serving out scoops. She had me sample the four flavors she was serving that day. My two favorites were the Raspberry Crème and the Bourbon Pecan Crunch. I chose both flavors in a cup, since I couldn't decide which flavor I liked more, so I could share with my family. The ice cream was flavorful and high quality. They were even doing Beer Floats with their ice cream which also sounded tasty.

Our sons had a blast playing with bubbles and my husband enjoyed trying some local beers. It was fun to attend a local event in the community while on vacation. Interested in the Pacific Northwest Brew Cup and want to see which beers they featured? You can click here for more.
