Chocolate Croissant Breakfast Bake

Chocolate Croissant Breakfast Bake makes a sweet, rich, and filling breakfast for Christmas or New Years.  You can also make it the night before and then bake it the next morning.  The recipe reminded me of a French toast bake but with croissants, cream cheese and chocolate.  You use already made croissants, or you can use the canned crescent rolls.  Just make sure you bake them first and then cut them into pieces.  The recipe calls for two cups of chocolate chips, but I found the whole thing to be overly sweet, especially for breakfast, so maybe one cup would be better.  A slice in the afternoon with some coffee, while finishing some last minute holiday prep, was just the thing.  It makes a big pan, a 13x9 size, so unless you have a large crowd for brunch, then you can freeze some for later.  I really enjoyed the flavors of the bread, chocolate, and cream cheese.  I reminded me of a mix between cheesecake, French toast, and bread pudding.  Perfect for the holidays when you want a warm, indulgent breakfast.
