Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Lunch at Wet Dog Cafe and Brewery in Astoria

About fifteen miles north of Seaside, OR is Astoria.  We've been there many times but we can always find a new spot to grub.  Wet Dog Cafe and Brewery may not be new, its actually Astoria's original brewery, but it was new to us and we wanted to check it out.  Located on the Columbia River Waterfront, this all ages café and brewery had a sleepy, relaxed vibe with large windows offering views of the river.  A large gift shop greeted us upon entering and the dog and puppy theme on the merchandise was funny and cute.  Apparently the owner had a dog named Wet Dog and that's how the restaurant got its name.  The walls were covered in knick knacks such as a giant fork, knife, and spoon.  There was more stuff to buy scattered throughout the space with the Wet Dog logo on shirts and everything else.

Now for the food.  I started with a cup of the clam chowder.  It had bacon in it and ended up being pretty heavy after the first couple of bites.  I also had the calamari which was perfect dipped in the aioli on the side.  My sons shared the chicken strips and tater tots and my husband drank an Old Fashioned and ate the fish and chips.   It was fun to check out Astoria's oldest brewery and relax with views of the Columbia River.
