Brunch at Super Six

Super Six in Columbia City was super, just like the name.  My family and I had brunch there yesterday for Mother's Day weekend.  We started with a rum drink served in a pineapple and it was a nice way to start our meal.  There was a lot of ice in it so it felt more for show than anything but it tasted refreshing and was really fun.  We also shared a Beach Bum Daiquiri, a drink with white rum, lime, orange, and vanilla.  It tasted like key lime pie and I loved it.  The food at Super Six is Hawaiian and it brought me back to our honeymoon from years ago.  I enjoyed all of the tropical flavors and Hawaiian influences in the dishes.  We all shared a Malasada, a Hawaiian donut, with coconut filling.  It was a little bite of heaven and we all each got two tiny nibbles.  Kind of an amuse bouche to start our brunch.  My husband had the Loco Moto-beef patty, brown gravy, rice, and two fried eggs.  Then my sons and I shared the Hawaiian French Toast.   It was made with a Malasada loaf, bacon, and sticky toffee syrup.  The French toast was my favorite because the bread was so thick and fluffy, the bacon tasted like candy, and the syrup was sweet and satisfying.  We also shared the Pancakes with Toasted Macadamia Butter and Haupia Syrup.  Then finally, for something more savory to even things out, we had the Hawaiian Quesadilla.  That was unique and also delicious and had ham, cheese, pineapple, and cilantro.  It reminded me of canadian bacon and pineapple pizza but in a Quesadilla.  Good stuff! The staff was super friendly and welcoming and they made me feel special.  The aloha spirit was strong there.  You gotta love that!
