What To Do In Seattle In Case Of A Sunny Day

If you find yourself in Seattle and the sun is shining and you can't decide what to do first, let me give you some ideas.  Head over to Columbia City Bakery, fifteen minutes south of downtown, and pick up some pastries.  You will be delighted by how buttery and flaky they are and they'll be the perfect dessert for a picnic at the park.  Try a Pistachio Snail and marvel at how delicious the pistachio filling is.  Get a Frangipane Tart and about fall off the picnic table because you love how the almonds and cherries taste and you can't believe how good the tart crust is.  And of course, get a Profiterole as big as your head, filled with cream and topped with chocolate.  Don't eat all of this by yourself because sharing is caring, and you don't want a stomach ache when the sun's out.

Enjoy your picnic at Seward Park, also in South Seattle near the bakery.  It's a three hundred acre forest surrounded by water and old trees that stand high to the sky.  There are hiking trails to walk off your picnic lunch and a playground so your little ones can burn off their sugar intake from all those pastries you shared.  Don't forget to look and see if Mt. Rainer is visible, on a clear day it will be, for a memorable view over Lake Washington.

Then later on, after a leisurely nap in the sun and an early dinner, drive to the Seattle Waterfront and watch the sunset.  Turn around and watch the colors change on the buildings in downtown as magic hour happens before your eyes.  Watch the ferries on Puget Sound head for one of the many islands in the distance.  Finally, see the sun makes its retreat behind the mountains and hope it returns the next day, too.
